Murray Peters Mk1 Zephyr

I have been a member of this group for a couple of years now and I have gained valuable info just by following the adventures of others so I thought it was time to send photos and details of my car.

I'm an expat Kiwi and have been here in Perth for a LONG time.

When I was growing up I learnt to drive in a Mk1 consul and I made a vow to myself that if and when I could afford one I was going to buy a mk1 Zephyr and I have done so. It sits proudly in my shed and it's not allowed out in the rain.

It is a 1956 mk1 Zephyr, stock standard and in original condition with 45000 genuine miles on the clock and I'm the third owner. I bought it in 2003 from a lady in the Adelaide Hills area of South Australia which well known for Consul and Zephyrs. I have the original purchase receipt for 950 pounds as well as a whole lot of memorabilia from the original owners. It was also used as a taxi in the film "Black and White" filmed in S.A. a few years back.

I have only touched up the paint work, chromed the hubcaps and front bumper, new tyres and white walls, patched up the front seat and had carpets installed throughout as the original front area rubber mat was beyond repair.

I have replaced the rear oils seals and I am in the process of replacing the front-end rubber bushes.

Apart from that she is original.

All the best

Murray
