Making The MKlll Gear Box Cross Member A
Structural Support

I
find over time the rubber mounts at the ends of the MKlll cross member (B) can
wear out, especially if a forward bias mount as in a V8 transmission, is in
place.
I
replace these with solid alloy stock (A) brought from your local engineering
shop, which I then drill to suit the mounting bolt and press in to the mounting
bracket, this is best done with the bracket off the car. This does not add to
vibration etc in the car and if anything adds strength to the underneath of the
body.
