Where can I get a Boss-Kit so I can bolt up a MOMO or similar wheel?

HKB Sports 2 (Brand) Japanese made , and very nice it looks too!

Use a 15/16 socket and I also turned my bosskit 180degrees to hide the HKB logo!)

Under the Repco sticker ( a Car parts supplier in NZ and Aust)  I saw BL-37B.

The Repco number is BK5150.

I translated the HKB website through google and this is what I come up with;

The first letters is the car company, eg Honda is OH.

The BL is in this case British Leyland I think?

The 37 is the model = Mini-73-74,

and the B is the key for Boss kits in the wider range of HKB products.

That's my take on it anyway.

Zephyr Mkll/lll Repco boss kit-BK 5150

HKB Boss kit BMC Mini 73-74 BL37B

Hope this helps others as the HKB kits are on Ebay so maybe a seller could get one of those for you elsewhere?

Also Japanese aftermarket shops import these kits too.

Here are numbers for Momo Mini kits:

GAC8491X 1969-71.

GAC8492X 1976-91.

GAC8493X 1991-96

(Sparco, Momo and Nardi plus the HKB line are the same modern pattern on the steering wheel, however early New Zealand steering wheel kits come in both a small 3 bolt pattern and a multi pattern (Wild Cat) that is not interchangible with the newer type mounting pattern. )

Moto-lita have a kit for Mkll's (which fit Mklll), part number B16H, they can be found on the net in the UK.  Moto-lita also have a Mini Mkl kit B1H and Mini Mkll B1.

Auto Concepts in Melbourne Australia phone: 0395450044, have a kit as well for Zephyr/Zodiac Mklll's, part number BKL 106L, thanks to Alan Martin for this tip.

At the moment we can confirm Mkll Zodiac is the same as Mklll, thanks go to Tommy Hokholt.

Fuel Flow Auto Cut Off

After designing a new fuel system for my car, I decided to install a safety/collision switch to automatically switch power off to the fuel pump in the event of a crash. Factory cars with electric fuel pumps mostly have these fitted from new, I consider the switch a must have compared to pumping a fuel tank dry into a fire in the case of a car accident .

These switches can be found on most cars in wrecking yards, however I think an important item like that is better brought new.

Fuelflow  in New Zealand http://www.fuelflow.co.nz/index.htm make a very well made collision switch (as well as fuel pumps), the switch is easy to fit and reset able.

The above company  do NOT sell direct to the public, however Dave King  has them available at:  Dking@appco.co.nz

Check out Dave for Mkll plus other Z car parts  elsewhere on the FAQ/Part suppliers page.

I think I need stronger front brakes for my MKlll, where can I get some?

First I would suggest Bendix XB pads in the standard front callipers with a twin reservoir system and then if need be, going onto larger vented disc’s (these will better match the car if it has had the rear end changed over to a Ford 8 or 9 inch or similar differential).

The firm who has a kit for this front-end brake swap is:

They are based in Australia.

Can I run unleaded in my early Ford?

If you only cover minor mileage annually, I would recommend just keeping an eye on valve clearances as most valve recession happens under load or at higher revs etc. I have run in the past in my own cars, the first 2 products and they have prevented valve problems in my engines. These are used as upper cylinder lubricants to help in cars converted to run on gas eg: LPG and CNG as well as for cars running on unleaded. It is interesting to read some of what they have to say on the unleaded issue, regarding lead free seats etc.
