Dan Rumsey’s Classic Mk1 Consul

This is Dan Rumsey's Consul from Australia. Brought in England in 1951 and imported to Australia in 1952, the car is one of the oldest of its type around, still with original rego that features only one number plate on the back of the car called a Q plate.

The car purrs along with its factory low gearing, which makes it quick off the mark (often beating other traffic at the lights!) to sit at a comfortable 100 kph and 110kph for short period of times. One of its best features is how well it keeps up with traffic at sensible speeds. Often people have thought the car has been repowered with the overhead cam 2 ltr Cortina engine, however, the factory drive train does very well in today’s setting.

Plans are to keep the car in its original standard state and enjoy reliable easy cruising.

Thanks Dan for supplying the photos and details on your beautiful car!
